Unfreezes imports after federal investigation.
President Joe Biden issued an executive order on Monday, declaring a 24-month tariff exemption for solar panels from Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. This ends a freeze that the Commerce Department put in place during their months-long and continuing investigation into these countries to determine whether they were circumventing U.S. tariffs on Chinese goods.
The president will also invoke the Defense Production Act to expand U.S. manufacturing of solar panel parts, building installation, heat pumps, power grid infrastructure, and equipment used to make clean energy-generated fuels.
“Ensuring a robust, resilient, and sustainable domestic industrial base to meet the requirements of the clean energy economy is essential to our national security, a resilient energy sector, and the preservation of domestic critical infrastructure,” the White House press secretary stated.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the president and his energy advisors as they promote solar power.
- For Secretary Raimondo to seek God’s wisdom as she oversees the investigation of solar panel imports.
- For Commerce officials as they work to ensure compliance with U.S. import regulations.
